I think everyone knows music, in general, has seen better days. There are always the innovative artists that keep things fresh and interesting, Kanye West, Jay-Z, Beyonce, Nas, Elvis (timeless), anything Motown (again, timeless), but there has been a serious lack of other inspiring, amazing music. Things that make me feel like I’m back in Brooklyn, on a block party as a kid and feeling life! Then I heard “Rihanna’s Gun” by Cris Cab. The island feel brings back summers in Brooklyn! It is the definition of timeless. Cab has got enough musical talent for a lifetime. So, let’s make sure we get him to a point where he can keep making music for us, well, for a lifetime. It is so weird what apple juice can do to you. The smell and taste of it transport me back to 1st grade in Public School 177 in Brooklyn. The cafeteria is buzzing with children, there’s a gymnasium in the next hall. And all of a sudden, I feel safe again. Do you have memories like this, what causes them?

A Reminder Of Happiness

This has been one of the most trying times of my life. I go in and out of losing the will to move on, to carry forward. But last night I had a dream that I wanted to live in these brand new apartments that were just built in Coney Island. No such apartments were built, but in my dream they were floor to ceiling windows and you had a view of the ocean and beach below and that feeling of the beach and summer was so prevalent in the dream, it reminded me of happiness. I am hoping that reminder becomes reality. Please share your stories with me and maybe we can help one another. What are you going through? How do you deal with it?
Nas: Hood Hero, Revolution Rhymer And Beyond

Because there’s no real easy way to do this publicly: I love Nas. Always have, always will. Whenever I am having a bad day, I listen to some Nas. His music always seems to lift my spirits. There’s no real rhyme or reason to it. I grew up in Brooklyn listening to him. He might even be my first real crush. So, today, Nas is my inspiration. I can sit here and quote a million of his lyrics and one will be better than the next, so you should just listen to some of his stuff, sit back and relax. Nas can do that for you. He makes me feel like I can accomplish anything.

Today is a day set aside to remember the victims of the Holocaust. I just hope everyone will draw strength and inspiration from their struggle and survival. May we never know such human horror again, and may their deaths not have been in vain. I hope their beauty reaches you wherever you are and hope that their spirits help raise yours.

A Day On The Beach To Clear Your Mind

I believe that one should look at beautiful things, because the things we surround ourselves with become we are and we perceive ourselves to be. God has created this earth for us to enjoy and bask it’s beauty. I am a New Yorker and I for one, have never seen a beach like this up close and personal. That is not to say that I do not love my New York beaches. It is where I go to be calm and at peace. My favorite places in the world really. Yet, there is something about this photo, when I found it that just excited me from it’s sheer beauty and the mood it creates. Can’t you just see yourself there? Because I can. My Mother and I love to go to the beach, and one of my dreams is to take her to a beach like this. Have you ever seen a beach like this? Would you like to go?
